Science or God. How was the universe created? Who created the universe?
If we must talk about the earth's existence, then we must travel back into the past to know how we all got here. The journey of the earth's existence started about 5 billion years ago according to scientists when there was no sign of what we see today.
The argument of whether the earth formed by itself, or was created by divine intervention is still ongoing. Some religious people believed that God created heaven and Earth, while scientists also have their own belief stating that the Earth was formed as a result of big-bang.
The bible and the Al-Quran are evidence that made many people believe that the universe was created by God. However, the tales of the big-bang propelled by the scientists cannot be seen as a complete fallacy either. So what do we believe?
Scientists postulate that
After the big-bang, the universe mostly consists of two elements which are hydrogen and helium. It was believed that some of these elements came together and formed a nuclear fusion, which resulted in the formation of stars. In the process of nuclear fusion, other heavy elements (carbon and Iron) were formed.
Going through several processes over millions of years, the star exploded due to the fact that there was much matter, which allowed some of its mass to flow into the core. The inability of the core to withstand the gravitational force caused the star to explode in a supernova.
After the explosion, one of the stars that scattered apart is the sun. This is a newborn star surrounded by dust. All these dust were pulled into tiny rocks due to gravity over time, so over millions of years, gravity pulled these rocks together to form the earth. I can’t start explaining bit by bit, but it took a long time for a lot of elements to form until hydrogen and carbon dioxide that sustain life was formed. The process of collecting bits together and combining them into larger bodies was the basis of the creation.
The scientists went in-depth to explain a lot of things. There were countless volcanic eruptions, quakes, and more that helped in forming various elements that resulted in what we call the earth today. The holy books
There are many religions in the world, but I’m focusing on Christianity and Islam. Permit me please if you belong to another religion. It’s because what I’m about to explain fits more into the above religion mentioned.
The Holy books stated that the earth was created by God. If you read from the book of Genesis, chapters 1 to 25, you would see how God created the heaven and the earth with all the things that creep on it.
Parts of the Quran also mention something similar to what is in the bible.
Surat Aale Imran [189-90]: “And to Allah belongs the dominion of the Heaven and Earth, and Allah is over all things. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.”
All these were recorded thousands of years ago. Moses wrote the first 5 books in the bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Number, and Deuteronomy). The oral tradition to write the first five books was given to him by God.
As some theologians calculated based on generation count back to the first man (Adam), the Earth is said to be hundreds of thousands of years old, but the scientists count devastated the calculation as they believed that the Universe was formed billions of years ago.

Science has brought us an immense knowledge of understanding a lot about our planet. As a matter of fact, every development the universe encounters today is as a result of various discoveries by scientists. If the volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, ocean flood, eclipse of the moon/sun was studied and gotten by the scientists, I think they have a good point from the big-bang theory. However, the fact that the universe was created by divine intervention cannot be waived.
Religion and science are two important phenomena that give human insight into the world and the universe. We all have different perspectives on what we believe, so in order not to get people muddled, let’s keep believing what we believe and make the argument friendly.
What do you think about the Earth? What's your belief about its creation?
